Abstract :
The aim of this work is to present a comparative study of the magnetic properties and the self-heating (magnetic hyperthermia) characteristics of CoxZn1-xFe2O4 nanoparticles prepared by co-precipitation method and annealed in air at 400°C for 6 hours. Rietveld analysis of the X-ray diffraction patterns show a single phase spinel structure with mean grain sizes (estimated through Sherrer´s formula) around 6-10 nm. Magnetic measurements are performed using a SQUID magnetometer. The optimum heating efficiency for intermediate Zn substitutions is interpreted as a consequence of different factors (Curie temperature, magnetic moment, grain size) controlling the actual magnetization process at room temperature in these nanoparticles.
