Abstract :
This article presents the design of a magnetic field projector (MFP) which projects a focused pulse magnetic field at a deep brain functional site and induces a pulse electric field in it, modulating the neuronal electric firing at the site. The MFP for sleep induction on rat brains is tested by projecting a pulse magnetic field focusing on the brain site ventrolateral preoptic nucleus which plays a key role in sleep promotion.
