Abstract :
Proper design parameter should be decided to design the permanent magnet synchronous motors. Generally, as output equation of permanent magnet motors, torque equation and voltage equation are used to decide design parameter. As predictions of motor performance following to parameters are possible under constant load only, drive motors for HEV/EV are not suitable ones. And permanent magnet synchronous motors perform flux-weakening control to prevent induced voltage from exceeding voltage limit following to the increasing velocity. In permanent magnet synchronous motors, input voltage and current phase angle are different following to loads under velocity range requiring flux-weakening. So it´s not easy to predict performance and decide design parameter following to parameters in this range. As a result, VP-Map was suggested for prediction of performance following to parameters in range of variable load and flux-weakening and decision of design parameter. Through this, available maximum torque at maximum velocity, input current for rated torque, and operational possibility under light-load could be predicted and so proper design parameter was decided for IPMSM as the target motors of this paper.
