Abstract :
With emerging reliability requirements in time critical sophisticated applications, the usage of multi-processors and provision for fault tolerance in real-time systems has become a necessity. However, for working in coordination reliably, load-balancing is also an important factor. In order to enhance the life of processors, continuous and heavy loading should be avoided. A number of algorithms are available in literature for scheduling in fault tolerant and load-balanced systems. Recently, an algorithm namely R-BATCH has been proposed for fault tolerant systems. In this paper we have extended the algorithm for incorporating load balancing and evaluated the performance. Our results show significant improvements over simple R-BATCH.
