Abstract :
Failure or damage events that degrade performance pose significant risk to aircraft in flight. The concept of extended trim state which contains airspeed, flight path angle, turn rate and angle of attack is proposed to prevent the aircraft from reaching the uncontrollable or unfeasible state. This paper applies retrospective cost adaptive control (RCAC) to follow the extended trim state commands. By solving the retrospective cost function and changing the parameter following weights, the chosen parameters in the possibly conflicting extended trim commands can be followed accurately.
