Abstract
For the application of multi-beam echo sounder data in constructing underwater digital terrain map (UDTM), the general approach of gridding is introduced. Simultaneously, advantage and disadvantage of several familiar fast gridding methods are compared, including distance weighted method, multi points average method and Gauss-weighted average method. Gridding process is made and the UDTM is constructed according to the different methods using MBES data from sea test, the results of gridding is analyzed according to the shape of contour lines. At last, interpolation inversion of different UDTM are made, which are compared to the real measured data. The results show that the UDTM got by gauss-weighted average is of higher accuracy, which is more practicable for fast construction of UDTM.
