  • Abstract
This paper deals with sudden short-circuit transient regimes of a three-phase salient poles synchronous generator. The three-phase, two-phase and single-phase transient short-circuits of a synchronous generator with two pole pairs, 1500 rev/s, are studied analytically, by finite elements analysis (FEA) and experimentally. Analytic study was performed using Mathcad and FEA was performed using MagNet software from Infolytica. In order to record the transient currents a Fluke 435 apparatus was used in laboratory. Finally, the results obtained by the three methods are discussed.
