  • Abstract
A novel approach for broadening the operating bandwidth of the 2N × 2N dual-polarized microstrip antenna lattice has been proposed. The achievable bandwidth of the antenna lattice is improved up to 14.5% of relative impedance bandwidth and up to 11.3% of relative bandwidth in which acceptable radiation patterns are achieved. The bandwidth enhancement is made by the utilization of electromagnetic coupling instead of direct connection within a feeding network and by employing multi-way slot-coupled single-layer power dividers in a beam-forming network of an antenna lattice. A concept presented in the paper has been verified by the design, simulations and measurements of the 4 × 4 antenna lattice operating within 5-5.6 GHz frequency range.
