Abstract
Even though Latin America is a large region, with research and development needs similar to those in other regions of the World, microwave engineering has not been sufficiently developed in order to produce new knowledge and state-of-the-art advances in the field. Data from IEEE which support this asseveration are presented and discussed. These are based on Microwave Theory and Techniques Society enrollment and regional chapters, and in its two most important journals.
