            Abstract :
The designs of programming languages emphasize efficiency and naturalness to various degrees. It is often the case that one aspect is undervalued in favor of the other. Sparrow is a programming language that attempts to maximize both efficiency and naturalness, while also remaining flexible. This paper studies Sparrow´s general efficiency, analyzing the performance of fundamental language and library components. Several case studies are presented, showing that Sparrow enables concise code to yield efficient programs.
