Abstract :
Recently, NIE (Newspaper In Education) is attracting attention at many elementary schools around the world. The use of newspapers for education has been specified in the Japanese government course guidelines since school year 2011. However, newspaper articles are written in kanji characters or terms which elementary school children cannot read and understand. The purpose of our research is to construct a Web news recommendation system for elementary school children, in order to enhance the effectiveness of NIE. This paper proposes Web news ranking for elementary school children based on the degree of SNS users´ attention and popular search queries of children. The effectiveness of the proposed method is examined by two experiments.
