  • Abstract
More and more application of LED has been realized in the field of street lighting. Modularization design for LED is an important trend of street light development. The compatibility between LED light engine and luminaire will also involve photometric, mechanical, electrical and thermal technology. It is necessary for LED to work under a certain temperature. How to make sure a LED light engine works properly in different luminaries under different ambient temperatures is the key point when design their thermal compatibility. Therefore, in this article, we introduce the design and application of Standardized-Thermal-Source to measure the temperatures in luminaries at different ambient temperatures in order to make sure whether these temperature values where are measured inside the luminaire meet the requirement of the ambient temperatures which a LED light engine allows. It provides a method to solve this sort of problem.
