  • Abstract
    This book is the new volume 531 in the Springer series Studies in Computational Intelligence with Janusz Kacprzyk from the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, as series editor. The editors have invited key persons in their research area, and the foreword is written by leading researcher Prof. Ralph Kennel from the Technical University of Munich, Germany, specialist in model predictive control in power electronics and drives. This makes a good recommendation for the book. This book is written by key specialists working in the area of modern advanced control methods, which penetrates the current implementation of power converters and drives. Although some of the presented methods are still not adopted by the industry, they create new solutions with further research and application potential. The chapters of the book are divided into three parts: Advanced Power Electronic Control in Renewable Energy Sources; Predictive Control of Power Converters and Drives; and Neuro and Nonlinear Control of Power Converters and Drives. The book has strong monograph attributes and is richly illustrated with results of original research. The list of references is given in each chapter, which includes newly published materials. Therefore, I do not hesitate to recommend this new attractive monograph as a text for a wide audience of researchers and engineering educators. Also, practicing engineers in the industry will gain valuable insight on the topics of advanced and intelligent control in power electronics and drives.
