Abstract :
Multicusp ion source is used for making high beam current of cyclotron and linear accelerators. The structure of multicusp ion source consists with permanent magnets, filaments and anode body. The quality of beam is decided by the structure, array of permanent magnets, the discharge voltage of plasma, the extraction bias voltage and the structure of multicusp ion source body. The electrons emit from filament by thermionic emission. The emission current can be calculated by the heat information of filament with applied voltage and current.
