Abstract :
The present work is directly related to a repetitive 0.6 MV, 10 GW Tesla-driven Blumlein pulsed power generator, successfully developed at Loughborough University. In the second phase of the project, aiming at further compressing and modulating the output pulse using a bipolar pulse forming line system, multi-GHz diagnostic equipment is required to accurately measure the bipolar voltage output approaching ±200 kV, with a rise time of about 300 ps. The main aim of the present work is to provide the simplest and most robust design for the manufacture of the required probes, but the results can be applied for the voltage measurement in most ultrafast pulse forming line generators, such as those currently under development at Pau University.
