  • Abstract
The application of non-thermal plasma excited by strong electric fields is becoming a key technology on water treatment because of high efficiency and no second pollution. This paper presents a pulsed DBD plasma reactor using a coaxial plexiglass tube. The advantage of this structure is that the oxidants, such as hydroxyl radicals, generated by the discharge were mixed well with the wastewater and gas. The full contact of plasma and organic pollutant makes sure the efficient process. The aim of our research is that how to efficiently produce and utilize these oxidants. Through the emission spectrometer, hydroxyl radicals and oxygen free radicals were proved to be exist qualitatively. The concentration of Hr2rOr2r and Or3r were measured by related detectors to prove efficient generation of oxidants. Degradation of indigo carmine solution was attempted by this system. The effects of discharge time, discharge voltage, frequency, initial pH value, and different gas were studied. The degradation rate and the energy cost of indigo carmine will be obtained.
