Abstract
In this paper, a new calibration scheme is proposed for tri-axial accelerometers calibration. It is based on a unified error model and an ellipsoid fitting algorithm. The derived calibration algorithm can compensate for all the combined time invariant inferences, such as bias, scalar factors, non-orthogonal, misalignment error and so on. The unified error model is formulated to change the error model to an ellipsoid model and the ellipsoid fitting algorithm based on direct least square (DLS) algorithm is presented to estimate the unified error model parameters. In experimental tests, the proposed algorithm is conducted and verified, and the results are discussed and compared. It is shows that the proposed algorithm has a good calibration performance and can make significant improvement in the accuracy of attitudes about 82.51% for pitch and 77.34% for roll.
