Abstract :
Despite the fact that software development is a design optimization process with nothing random, large software systems exhibit statistical properties that can be studied with the approach of statistical physics. In this keynote talk, I shall recall the history of the application of statistical physics methods to the study of software systems, since its inception at the beginning of 2000.
