Abstract
Estimation of distance to real objects can be done with the help of various sensors. In some cases stereovision system is technically simpler and cheaper. Algorithms of dense stereovision allow to build highly detailed virtual terrain model, which gives opportunity to control the device in complicated relief or in dangerous surroundings. But some algorithms of dense stereovision have problems to determine the distance on the basis of real terrain sector images and the algorithms without such problems cannot make calculations in real time. The article proves the possibility to use stereovision to build virtual terrain model as well as studies the method to optimize stereovision algorithm to be used in embedded systems.
