Abstract
This paper studies impacts of polarization diversity in mobile Long-Term Evolution (LTE) 2 × 2 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) network over indoor channels. The research shows that Vertical-Horizontal (denoted ⊢) polarization deployed at indoor LTE base station (eNodeB) is found to provide better performance over Vertical-Vertical polarization (denoted ∥) and X-pol (denoted ×-pol) pairs. Signals also appear to be more correlated with ⊢ polarization pair since MIMO Utilization (within 1ms Transmission Time Interval TTI) gets improved values, MIMO Utilization gains are around 18.0% over ∥ polarization pair and 6.0% over × pair, resulting in around 31.7% and 17.0% MAC throughput (TP) gains over the two latter, relatively. The results also point out that changing polarizations at User Equipment (UE) does not give any significant MAC TP and MIMO Utilization improvements.
