Abstract :
Bending loss in two-dimensional square-lattice photonic crystal structure composed of dielectric and metallic pillars were measured to investigate its fundamental transmission and reflection characteristics. For consideration of the loss of the propagating electromagnetic field, the structure with straight line defect were also measured for both materials. The differences in transmission and reflection were small enough especially for ceramic pillars, compared with straight waveguides. These results increase flexibility for design of highly integrated circuits using photonic crystal structure.
