  • Abstract
Air pollution in big cities generally comes from vehicle emission, industrial and cigarette smoke, or even from the dust in the air. PM is solid or liquid particle that has micrometer for its metric. CO is the gas resulted from the combustion of fuel and the vehicle emission. Wireless Sensor Network using ZigBee protocol and machine-to-machine communication technology can be an alternative solution to detect and measure the air quality. The study builds a system to detect the air pollution using M2M OpenMTC platform with ZigBee as the transmition media. The test shows that the detection from CO sensor is different from CO alarm in the range of 66.8-170.2 PPM. PM sensor is able to detect the changes of concentration in the same place for different time. Response time obtained is in the range of 996.1-1011.3 ms. XBee is able to transfer data to the range of 500 m without barrier and 60 m with barrier.
