  • Abstract
Nucleosome position plays a crucial role in many biological processes including repair, recombination, gene expression and disease development. With the rapidly increasing number of sequenced genomes in post genomic era, computational methods is starting to be used for timely predicting nucleosome position and linker. Correct identification of nucleosome position is the fundamental importance to understand the gene expression. In this article, we introduced a new computational approach called “PNP-DIPseAAC”, which incorporates the physical and chemistry properties of DNA sequences and statistical features based on the Fuzzy KNN (K-Nearest Neighbor) classifier for statistical prediction, for instance, nucleic acid composition, Ziv-Lempel Complexity Factor, the information entropy and related information redundancy and Low-Frequency Fourier Spectrum Components. According to the strict jackknife test that the result for the overall accuracy achieved 98.4% was encouraging, demonstrating that the novel approach can be a helpful supplementary tool for the existence approaches in identifying nucleosome position.
