Abstract
In this paper, a novel integrated design and control method is proposed to simplify the design of a controller and achieve a robust pole placement for nonlinear manufacturing system. The key idea in this method is to obtain an easily controlled dynamic behavior through process design and integrate the merits of both robust design and control to ensure the robust pole placement under parameter uncertainty. First, a design-for-control approach is developed to make the system have a well linear approximation and be controllable. This can effectively reduce the system nonlinearity so that the system designed is easy to predict and control. Then, a novel integrated robust design and control approach is proposed to guarantee the stability as well as the robust pole placement, which can effectively ensure the satisfactory dynamic robust performance under parameter uncertainty. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method will be demonstrated and confirmed on the application of two nonlinear cases.
