Abstract :
The papers in this special section focus on the technologies and services that support ambient assisted living (ASL). It is now generally accepted that technology has a role to play in caring for this aging population. The concept of ambient-assisted living (AAL) is a term coined to describe the use of information and communication technologies in people???s daily living and working environment to enable them to stay active longer, remain socially connected, and live independently into old age.
