Abstract :
Smart structures are structures that have the ability to adapt, evolve, or change their properties or behavior in response to the environment around them. This book is an encyclopedic treatment of modeling techniques for smart structural systems written by two experts in the field. Although there are other excellent books covering the topic of smart materials and smart structures, this book does a first-rate job of covering each relevant area of this important discipline in great depth. An extensive list of references for each chapter is provided, as well as many worked examples that are useful to the reader who is trying to put into practice the theoretical results presented in the text.
