Abstract :
Using forward error correction, a remotely pumped postamplifier and a remotely pumped preamplifier error-free unrepeatered transmission on nondispersion shifted fibre is demonstrated over record distances of 481 km at 2.5 Gbit/s and 501 km at 622 Mbit/s
