Abstract :
Simple and straightforward modifications are proposed to improve the performance of the existing time-domain travelling-wave algorithm in solving the coupled-wave equations. The conditions of convergence of the modified time-domain travelling-wave algorithms are also derived. It can be shown that the algorithm realised by a two-dimensional second-order approximation has the fastest computational speed. It is also accurate enough to model the static and dynamic behaviour of different types of distributed feedback semiconductor lasers with large coupling coefficient.
