Abstract
This paper describes a new method for building a three-dimensional geometrical model of objects from a single image. This method is based on a new concept, namely, the cylindrical projective geometry, which allows us to automatically compute the shape of objects with axial symmetry from one image and without any knowledge about the camera used. Mathematical concepts as well as their use in the modeling process are presented. Some results to show efficiency and accuracy of this method are included.
