  • Abstract
Engineering continues to be inextricably interwoven with the broader issues of society, spanning concerns for energy, materials, the environment, mass education on an individual basis, and maintenance of professional competency. Through the IEEE/ASEE conferences on Frontiers in Education, engineers and others exchange ideas and stimulate each other to attempt to identify problems at the forefront and to discover solutions to these problems. Examples of scouting and homesteading, of means of charting frontiers, and of possibilities for further exploration are highlighted in this paper.
