A Message and Mission Statement from the New Editor-in-Chief

My combined second and third goal is to gradually further increase the quality of the journal, by keeping the annual page count flat or even slightly decreasing it, while instituting a new model for the filtering of incoming papers. I ask for our research community´s understanding and support as I attempt to move us modestly in the direction towards an even more highly selective journal. I hope that this new model of an Executive Committee will prove successful enough to be emulated by other IEEE journals and societies, who also are facing similar challenges posed by a massive onslaught of submissions, a single point of failure in processing them, and a correspondingly unsustainable review load on the Editorial staff and their reviewers.
