Abstract
Theoretical spectra for ionospheric scintillations have previously been developed only for specific cases, as their generation entails numerical integration. This concise paper describes how the characteristic frequencies of the phase and amplitude scintillations caused by propagation through arbitrary turbulent layers may be evaluated for arbitrary geometries using simple formulas.
