Abstract :
In this paper an exact analysis of probability of error for optical fiber communication systems is described using the Gauss quadrature rule (GQR) and the moments of the decision circuit input signal. As an example of the analysis, two line codes for a system with 280 Mbits/s, the binary code and the bi-phase code, are compared.
