Abstract :
The electric and magnetic fields associated with moving magnetic dipoles are derived, at an elementary level, by introducing fictitious magnetic charges and by considering the symmetry of Maxwell´s equations. The result is applied to the derivation of the spinorbit term in hydrogen-like atoms.
