Abstract
Several configurations of resonant linear permanent magnet (PM) oscillomotors have been proposed lately for different devices. Higher efficiency for competitive costs and weight, in comparison with rotary actuators containing rotary to linear transmission, can be secured by operation at resonance (mechanical eigenfrequency is equal to electrical frequency). This study proposes a closed-loop position control system for a new, springless, resonant linear permanent magnet oscillomotor and demonstrates through digital simulations its capability to deliver precise and wide levels of output power under good efficiency conditions not only at a given (resonant) frequency, but for ±10% frequency range around it.
