Abstract :
A mathematical model, based on the logistic function, is proposed to describe the legibility of alphanumerics transmitted by facsimile or by television. The model has been successfully applied to results obtained with examples of both types of systems. It describes the effects of both horizontal and vertical definition, at the same time reflecting the additive effect of one parameter on the other.
