Abstract :
A comparison of British and American data, relevant to the participation of women in electrical engineering and related fields, reveals interesting contrasts and suggests that flexibility of educational and career opportunity is a key factor in maximizing female entrance to these areas. Aspects of the British experience are discussed and some current initiatives to overcome the low participation rate of women in the information technology profession are described.
