Abstract :
This paper gives a historical perspective and a very general overview of the employment situation of women in electrical and computer engineering, especially related to industry and universities. The information provided is based on a survey of 97 women. The survey included general aspects such as age, family status, number of children, motivation for choosing those fields, highest degree reached, research activities, publications, and four key aspects: if they feel discriminated against in any way, e.g., at the economical level; responsibility and duties; ability to carry their ideas into practice; and promotability in comparison to men with the same professional qualifications.
