Abstract :
Light depolarisation in nonsoliton long-haul fibre links is studied. If dispersive effects are absent, the degree of polarisation can be calculated analytically, while in the presence of dispersive effects a numerical analysis is used. Results show how a dispersion management technique enables maintenance of a high degree of polarisation in transoceanic distances
