Abstract :
The paper describes a couple of algorithms which can be used to adaptively control the spindle motor of a CD-ROM drive so that the average bit rate can be increased while preserving the servo-mechanical requirements. These algorithms fill in the gap between constant angular velocity (CAV) and constant linear velocity (CLV) control and are based on the so-called quasi-CLV control of the spindle motor which is also described
