New systems concepts on future HDTV system

The paper investigates some new systems concepts for future HDTV systems, and proposes a powerful personal computer (or workstation)-based software-oriented information management system located between the receiver and display systems of the HDTV system in order to take advantages of the high-quality display system used in multimedia information services. From the systems integration viewpoint, and information manipulation and management considerations, the information management system has been proposed at a conceptual function level, which intends to integrate a variety of HDTV transmission systems and to receive high-speed BISDN-based multimedia information services.
