Abstract :
A power and spectrally efficient modulation which increases the transmit output power and reduces the interference among adjacent channel users in PCS and satellite TV broadcasting applications is presented. This modulation named filtered quadrature phase shift keying or “FQPSK” can be nonlinearly amplified using class C amplifiers allowing a 7-10 dB increase in transmit output power compared to QPSK modulated systems. This gain in the output power leads to a wider transmission coverage in satellite applications, longer battery life and reduced radiation for PCS users
