Abstract :
A new method for generating coherent ultrashort optical pulses from semiconductor lasers with GRIN short external coupled cavity (GSCCL) by means of sinusoidal direct modulation is proposed. 20 ps coherent ultrashort optical pulses have been obtained; the repetition rate is 730 MHz, and the side mode suppression ratio is more than 35 dB.
