Abstract
Finite-element analysis (FEA) is applied to analyze square-wave permanent-magnet (PM) motors with exterior rotor for electric vehicle application. The electromagnetic torque and the torque/speed characteristics of the machine are calculated, tested, and analyzed systematically. The techniques to improve computation accuracy without increasing elements are introduced in this paper
