            Abstract :
The effect on dominant emission mode and linewidth of 1550 nm DFB lasers of antireflection coating of a single facet has been investigated. The probability of a mode jump caused by the coating has been correlated with coupling coefficient magnitude. Linewidth increased by a factor of 1.6 when facet reflectivity decreased to 5%, compared with a calculated change of 2.3.
