Abstract :
A new measurement technique for obtaining bit error rates on an erbium doped fibre amplified recirculating loop is described. This method also allows eye and pattern waveforms to be obtained, and is used to demonstrate 2.5 Gbit/s PRBS data transmission over transoceanic distances.
