Abstract :
This paper presents the quotient function (QF) of the residue number system (RNS), which provides the integer value of the argument scaled by a modulus of the RNS. An application of the QF to residue-to-binary conversion is proposed, which outperforms the traditional approaches based on the Chinese remainder theorem and the mixed radix conversion, if a modulus of the kind 2k, k integer, is included in the set of RNS moduli.
