Abstract :
The Earth is a tremendously complicated series of atmospheric, oceanic, geologic, and biological processes all working together. Science is striving to create the ultimate closed ecosystem by replicating these dynamic forces on a microcosmic level. From this research, science will gain tremendous knowledge about how to lower costs and add aesthetic appeal for long-term space flight. Also, these microcosms can be used in areas on Earth, possibly as an important agricultural weapon against eroding farmland.
