Abstract
Previous structural analyses indicated that only the DO3 -type structure exists in Sendust alloy. To determine the relation between the degree of order in the DO3 phase and the soft magnetic properties, samples were annealed at 1200°C for two hours and then either slowly cooled to room temperature, or rapidly quenched, and the magnetic properties were measured. Bright-field micrographs showed both types of alloy to have a DO3 structure, but with much greater order in the slowly cooled than in the quenched sample. The temperature dependence of K1 was found to change greatly with the degree of order; studies on the relation between degree of order and ¿ and Hc are underway.
