Abstract
To test a model for the magnetically inhomogeneous structure in Fe65 Ni35 invar alloys, according to which paramagnetic clusters are formed in Fe-rich regions, a polarized neutron scattering device was used to measure the polarized neutron small-angle scattering in natural (Fe65 natNi35 ) and isotopic (Fe65 62Ni35 ) samples. Measured deviations from average scattering amplitude densities coincided with values predicted on the basis of the model, and provided information on the shapes of the paramagnetic clusters.
